Nina Morton

Speech and Language Therapist

London

Nina Morton

Biography

Nina Morton is a Speech and Language Therapist and Expert Witness with over fourteen years of clinical experience across acute hospital services, specialist units and adult community settings. Her practice is centred on acquired communication and swallowing disorders, providing a highly specialised foundation for expert evidence in complex neurological and multi-factorial cases.

Nina brings extensive expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and management of adults with communication and dysphagia needs arising from conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, dementia and progressive neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. Her clinical practice encompasses both communication and swallowing management, enabling a comprehensive and integrated approach to functional assessment and long-term care planning.

Her experience includes managing complex presentations involving co-existing mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression and schizophrenia, alongside cognitive-communication disorders and the use of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). She has worked extensively across critical care, respiratory and surgical wards, hyper-acute and acute stroke units, and progressive neurology pathways, providing detailed functional analysis and robust clinical reasoning in highly complex clinical scenarios.

For the past nine years, Nina has worked within adult community services, delivering ongoing assessment and intervention for individuals with long-term and progressive conditions. She has played a central role in multidisciplinary care planning, including complex feeding decisions and palliative care discussions, working closely with neurologists, psychologists, ENT and gastroenterology teams, therapists and specialist nursing services to ensure coordinated and clinically sound rehabilitation pathways.

Nina has held senior leadership roles, including Clinical Lead for a community adult neurology Speech and Language Therapy service and more recently Band 8a Clinical and Operational Lead, overseeing service delivery, governance, workforce development and strategic planning. This experience provides a strong foundation for her expert opinion on care, risk, swallowing safety and long-term communication needs in complex adult cases.

Fully trained in the Civil Procedure Rules, Nina provides independent expert evidence across both claimant and defendant instructions. Her reports are objective, clinically robust and focused on delivering clear, reasoned opinions to assist the Court in determining matters of communication, dysphagia, care and long-term functional outcomes in adult neurological cases.
