Rachel Mayne is a Catastrophic Case Manager and Occupational Therapist with over fourteen years of experience across mental health and physical healthcare, specialising in complex adult presentations where neurological, cognitive and psychological needs intersect.

Her expertise includes traumatic and acquired brain injury, progressive neurological conditions such as Huntington’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, and cases involving significant cognitive decline alongside depression, anxiety and behavioural complexity. Biography — Expert Witness

Rachel Mayne is an Occupational Therapist and Expert Witness with nearly ten years of clinical experience across a broad range of NHS and specialist services. Her practice is centred on complex adult presentations, with particular expertise in neurological and progressive conditions, providing a strong foundation for the assessment of care, rehabilitation and long-term functional need.

Rachel currently works within a Highly Specialist Community Huntington’s Disease team, where she leads on the assessment and management of individuals with complex and progressive neurological conditions. Her clinical experience spans multiple settings, including trauma and orthopaedics, vascular care, hospital complex care, mental health liaison and community reablement, enabling her to bring a comprehensive and integrated perspective to expert evidence.

She has extensive experience working with individuals presenting with brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, functional neurological disorders and dementia, alongside complex physical injuries including amputations, burns and musculoskeletal conditions. Her practice also incorporates the management of chronic and neuropathic pain, as well as the psychological impact of injury, including anxiety and mood disorders. This breadth allows her to deliver holistic, clinically grounded opinions that reflect both physical and cognitive-functional impact.

Rachel is particularly experienced in functional assessment, environmental and housing adaptations, specialist equipment provision, and posture and seating management. She regularly undertakes home assessments and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop coordinated and sustainable care plans that maximise independence and quality of life.

Fully trained in the Civil Procedure Rules, Rachel provides independent expert evidence across both claimant and defendant instructions.
