Biography Metian Parsanka is a highly experienced Occupational Therapist and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with over a decade of clinical expertise across emergency care, acute medicine, frailty and community rehabilitation. Her background spans a wide range of specialist areas, including surgery, vascular care, critical care, general medicine, elderly care, cardiology, orthopaedics and emergency department services, providing her with a broad and highly transferable understanding of complex rehabilitation and functional assessment. Metian has extensive experience working with adults presenting with complex physical, neurological and cognitive conditions, including fractures, falls, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, amputations, chronic pain, dementia and other long-term health conditions. Her clinical work frequently involves individuals with multiple co-morbidities and overlapping physical and mental health needs, including anxiety, depression and cognitive impairment, requiring detailed assessment of function, safety, rehabilitation potential and long-term support requirements. A significant part of her career has focused on frailty and emergency department care, where she has played a central role in preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitating safe and timely discharge planning. She regularly undertakes comprehensive functional assessments, identifies equipment and care needs, and works collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams to implement tailored rehabilitation and support plans that promote independence and reduce risk. Metian also has extensive experience coordinating complex care planning and rehabilitation pathways, including for individuals with vascular conditions, amputations and progressive neurological disorders. Her multidisciplinary work alongside consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses and social workers enables her to provide holistic and person-centred recommendations that consider both clinical presentation and practical functional outcomes. Alongside her clinical practice, Metian works as an Expert Witness Occupational Therapist for Harrison Associates, preparing objective and evidence-based reports. Her broad experience across acute and community pathways, combined with her advanced clinical training and understanding of complex rehabilitation, enables her to provide a well-reasoned opinion in matters involving functional ability, rehabilitation needs, care provision and occupational therapy recommendations. Metian holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice from St George’s University London, and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. She is also a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and the British Association of Occupational Therapists.
