Ciarán O’Hagan is an Expert Witness Occupational Therapist with over sixteen years of clinical experience, including the last eight years specialising in neurological rehabilitation. His practice focuses predominantly on adults with acquired brain injury, stroke and long-term neurological conditions, with extensive expertise in the assessment and rehabilitation of complex neurological presentations including cognitive impairment, visual impairment, upper limb dysfunction and complex sensorimotor deficits.

Ciarán has worked extensively across acute hospital services, inpatient neurorehabilitation units, community rehabilitation and stroke services, providing specialist occupational therapy intervention throughout the rehabilitation pathway from acute admission through to community reintegration. His clinical work includes comprehensive neurological assessment, functional assessment, cognitive and visual assessment, upper limb rehabilitation, postural management, equipment provision and complex discharge planning for individuals with significant neurological impairment.

He has substantial experience managing complex rehabilitation cases involving traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumours, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and other long-term neurological conditions. His work frequently involves liaison with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to coordinate rehabilitation, implement treatment programmes and facilitate safe discharge back into the community. He also has experience conducting home visits, assessing functional capacity within community settings and recommending adaptations, equipment and care provision to support independence and participation in daily living.

Ciarán has held leadership responsibilities within specialist neurological rehabilitation services, including Lead Occupational Therapist roles within inpatient brain injury rehabilitation settings. Alongside clinical leadership, he has contributed to service development, staff supervision and training of occupational therapy teams and allied health professionals.

As an Expert Witness Occupational Therapist for Harrison Associates, Ciarán provides objective, evidence-based opinion in relation to neurological rehabilitation, functional capacity, occupational therapy needs, equipment provision and long-term rehabilitation recommendations. His extensive neurological rehabilitation background enables him to provide detailed analysis of the functional impact of complex neurological injury and disability on independence, daily living and rehabilitation outcomes.

Ciarán holds a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and postgraduate study in Advanced History Taking and Physical Assessment. He is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
