Jack Cawood

Biography

Jack Cawood is a Physiotherapist and Expert Witness with almost a decade of clinical experience across musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation. He specialises in the assessment and rehabilitation of individuals with upper and lower limb loss, supported by advanced expertise in prosthetics and complex rehabilitation.

As Lead Clinician within a regional prosthetics centre, Jack delivers highly specialised rehabilitation programmes, combining technical knowledge of advanced prosthetic devices with detailed functional assessment to optimise mobility, independence and long-term outcomes. His role includes service development, supervision and training of clinicians, and ensuring delivery aligns with national clinical standards. He also contributes at a national level through involvement with the British Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Limb Absence Rehabilitation, supporting the development of best practice in limb loss care.

Jack’s clinical experience extends across complex trauma, orthopaedic surgery and neurological rehabilitation. He has worked within spinal injury and burns units, acute stroke services, cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation, and community-based pathways, providing a comprehensive understanding of the full rehabilitation journey. His experience includes autonomous practice in acute and critical care settings, as well as management of both acute and long-term conditions within musculoskeletal and pain services.

He also undertakes specialist rehabilitation in collaboration with private prosthetic and orthotic providers, supporting individuals using advanced devices where highly individualised treatment is required. His approach integrates functional assessment, risk management and health promotion to ensure rehabilitation plans are clinically robust and sustainable over the long term.

Fully trained in the Civil Procedure Rules, Jack provides independent expert evidence across both claimant and defendant instructions, accepting both adult and paediatric cases. His reports are objective, evidence-based and focused on delivering clear, reasoned opinions to assist the Court in determining matters of injury, rehabilitation and long-term functional outcome, particularly in cases involving limb loss and complex trauma.
