Biography Gemma Kenney is an Occupational Therapist and Expert Witness with nearly twenty years of clinical experience, specialising in the rehabilitation of adults with complex and traumatic injuries. Her expertise spans amputations, spinal and brain injuries, as well as progressive neurological conditions, providing a strong foundation for the assessment of complex care, rehabilitation and long-term functional needs. Gemma’s practice is grounded in detailed functional assessment and the delivery of rehabilitation across both acute and community settings. She has extensive experience managing complex cases, including those involving multiple co-morbidities, degenerative conditions such as motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis, and the interaction between physical, cognitive and mental health factors. Her work includes commissioning and managing tailored care packages, developing comprehensive care plans and ensuring coordinated, multidisciplinary approaches to rehabilitation. Her early career focused on housing, equipment provision and major adaptations, giving her a detailed understanding of environmental needs and long-term independence. This is complemented by significant experience within acute trauma and orthopaedic services, enabling her to provide clear, clinically reasoned opinions across the full rehabilitation pathway from injury through to long-term community living. Gemma has held senior leadership roles within community rehabilitation services, including leading multidisciplinary teams and contributing to service development. Her leadership was instrumental in achieving an outstanding CQC rating, reflecting both clinical and operational excellence. Fully trained in the Civil Procedure Rules, Gemma provides independent expert evidence across both claimant and defendant instructions.
