Biography Daniel Adams is an Occupational Therapist and Expert Witness with over 25 years of clinical experience across adult social care, mental health, physical disability and forensic settings. His practice is grounded in detailed functional assessment, with particular expertise in moving and handling, specialist equipment provision and environmental adaptation to support safe and sustainable independence within the home and community. Daniel brings extensive experience working within local authority services, including assessments delivered under the Disabled Facilities Grant framework. He provides practical, bespoke recommendations for individuals with complex physical, cognitive and behavioural needs, ensuring that care provision is proportionate, safe and aligned with real-world delivery. His work frequently involves evaluating care requirements, risk, and the interaction between functional limitation and environmental factors. He has significant expertise in supporting individuals with enduring mental health conditions, often alongside physical frailty or neurological presentations. His clinical background includes leadership roles within specialist residential settings and experience in secure and high-risk environments, including acting as lead Occupational Therapist for prison-based referrals. This experience underpins his ability to assess behavioural risk, supervision requirements and safeguarding considerations within complex care packages. Daniel’s practice also extends to the delivery of restrictive intervention and risk management training at a national level across health, education and social care sectors. This provides a strong foundation for his expert opinion on handling strategies, behavioural support and environmental risk mitigation. His experience in community rehabilitation further supports his ability to assess engagement, functional capacity and long-term independence in community settings. Fully trained in the Civil Procedure Rules, Daniel provides independent expert evidence across both claimant and defendant instructions. His reports are objective, clinically grounded and focused on delivering clear, reasoned opinions to assist the Court in determining matters of care, functional independence, equipment, adaptation and rehabilitation planning across a wide range of adult presentations.
