Biography Julie Milo-Pears is an Expert Witness Occupational Therapist with 28 years of clinical experience specialising in paediatric neurological disability, complex motor disorders, progressive neuromuscular conditions and the functional needs of children with complex physical and developmental disabilities. Her expertise includes cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, neurodevelopmental conditions and significant physical impairment, with particular specialism in postural management, specialist equipment provision and major housing adaptations. Julie has extensive experience assessing and supporting children and young people with complex neurological and developmental presentations, including cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, progressive neuromuscular disorders, learning disabilities, autism, ADHD and paediatric oncology-related disability. She also works with children presenting with sensory and communication needs, anxiety, emotional dysregulation and behaviours that challenge. Her clinical approach considers the impact of these conditions on functional independence, everyday activities, family life and the child’s changing needs as they develop. A particular strength of Julie’s practice is her expertise in specialist seating, postural management, upper limb rehabilitation, equipment provision and housing adaptations. She has substantial experience assessing the suitability of home environments, recommending major and minor adaptations, supporting Disabled Facilities Grant applications and identifying changing care requirements, including increased support and double-handed care. Her experience also encompasses Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments, tribunal reports and functional recommendations for children with complex disabilities. Julie has held senior clinical positions across NHS children’s services, including specialist community occupational therapy and hospital-based paediatric practice. Her earlier hospital experience covered neurology, orthopaedics, oncology, rheumatology, plastic surgery and paediatric intensive care, including the acute management of acquired head injuries. She currently serves as Clinical Team Lead within an integrated NHS and Social Care children’s occupational therapy service, overseeing clinical practice and coordinating multidisciplinary input across health, education and social care. As an Expert Witness for Harrison Associates, Julie draws on her extensive paediatric clinical experience to provide occupational therapy opinion relating to functional ability, rehabilitation, specialist equipment, postural management, housing adaptations and care requirements. Her particular expertise in complex childhood disability and the practical implications of long-term neurological conditions makes her well suited to quantum instructions involving children with significant and changing rehabilitation and support needs.
