Michaela McCann is an Occupational Therapist and Expert Witness with over thirteen years of clinical experience across hospital, community, military and international healthcare settings. Her practice is centred on complex trauma and neurological rehabilitation, providing a strong foundation for the assessment of care, rehabilitation and long-term functional need following serious injury.

Michaela brings extensive expertise across a wide range of complex conditions, including spinal cord injury, traumatic and elective amputations, multiple and complex fractures, peripheral nerve injury, traumatic and acquired brain injury, stroke and complex regional pain syndrome. She also has significant experience in addressing the psychological impact of trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression, enabling a comprehensive and holistic approach to expert evidence.

Her clinical career includes specialist experience within a spinal treatment centre and senior roles at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, where she worked with military personnel presenting with catastrophic injuries, multiple limb loss and complex multi-system trauma. She has also held senior roles across intensive care, renal and neurological services, alongside delivering community rehabilitation, reablement and home assessment services focused on maximising independence while minimising long-term care needs.

Michaela’s experience extends to service development and leadership, including the design of referral pathways, delivery of technology-enabled care pilots and training of multidisciplinary teams in equipment provision, posture and seating. Her international work further strengthens her understanding of diverse healthcare systems and rehabilitation approaches.

Fully trained in the Civil Procedure Rules, Michaela provides independent expert evidence across both claimant and defendant instructions. Her reports are objective, clinically grounded and focused on delivering clear, reasoned opinions to assist the Court in determining matters of care, rehabilitation and long-term functional outcomes. She maintains her professional standards through ongoing CPD and active clinical engagement.
