Biography Penny Richardson is an Associate Rehabilitation Case Manager and Occupational Therapist with over 13 years of clinical experience and almost seven years of rehabilitation case management. She specialises in supporting adults with acquired and traumatic brain injuries, complex orthopaedic injuries and severe mental health conditions, coordinating rehabilitation that is structured, evidence-based and tailored to each client’s individual goals. Penny has extensive expertise in managing adults with acquired brain injury, incomplete spinal cord injuries, peripheral nerve injuries and complex multi-trauma presentations. Her background also includes supporting individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions, including personality disorder, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, dementia, Korsakoff’s syndrome, depression and anxiety. Her holistic understanding of the interaction between physical injury, cognition and psychological wellbeing enables her to develop rehabilitation programmes that address the full impact of catastrophic injury. She is highly experienced in coordinating multidisciplinary rehabilitation involving occupational therapists, physiotherapists, neuropsychologists, psychologists, speech and language therapists, dietitians and rehabilitation support workers. Penny undertakes Immediate Needs Assessments, develops and reviews rehabilitation plans, chairs multidisciplinary meetings, supervises rehabilitation support workers and works closely with solicitors, funders and healthcare professionals to ensure rehabilitation remains coordinated, responsive and outcome focused. Alongside her case management work, Penny continues to practise as a Senior Occupational Therapist within specialist mental health rehabilitation services, maintaining current clinical expertise in acquired brain injury, risk management, safeguarding and complex rehabilitation. Her experience across acute, community and specialist mental health services enables her to support clients with highly complex physical, cognitive and psychological presentations. Penny’s approach is calm, compassionate and collaborative. She understands that catastrophic injury affects the whole family and works closely with clients and those around them to provide clear communication, practical guidance and coordinated rehabilitation that supports independence, confidence and long-term recovery.
