Biography Sophie Haigh is a Children’s Nurse and Catastrophic Case Manager with 19 years of clinical experience specialising in paediatric complex care, neurological conditions and high-dependency nursing. She has extensive experience supporting children and young people with acquired and traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, movement disorders and other complex neurological and medical conditions. Sophie spent 11 years at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, developing specialist expertise across paediatric high-dependency, intensive care, medical and surgical nursing. Her clinical experience includes working with children who require tracheostomy care, ventilation, suction, PEG and nasogastric feeding, catheterisation and complex medication management. She has subsequently developed extensive experience within community complex care and clinical leadership, managing and overseeing packages of care for children and adults with significant healthcare needs. Sophie has coordinated multidisciplinary teams, undertaken risk assessments, supervised nursing and support staff and provided clinical governance across complex home-based care services. Her experience includes supporting children with brain and spinal cord injuries, birth-related neurological conditions, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, learning disabilities and developmental conditions. She also has experience of autism, ADHD, mental health needs, respiratory difficulties and complex feeding requirements. Sophie has particular experience supporting children through the transition from hospital and specialist rehabilitation into the community. This has included working alongside Case Managers, Integrated Care Boards and multidisciplinary clinical teams to establish safe home-based care packages and support longer-term rehabilitation, education and family life. Alongside her community work, Sophie has worked as Nurse Manager within a specialist school supporting children and young people with complex needs. Her combination of specialist paediatric nursing, complex care coordination, clinical leadership and family-centred practice provides a strong foundation for catastrophic case management involving children and young people with life-changing injuries and complex medical needs. Sophie is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, is a member of the Royal College of Nursing and holds membership of CMSUK.
